What's Happening at the market Come out and enjoy the live music, great local produce and artisans and kids' activities! And don't forget to have lunch at the food trailers!  We also have an upscale flea just down the parking lot from us.   

Here's what's happening at The Kid's Zone has some cool events every Saturday. This weekend is going to be really really fun! Funkytonk's own resident potter GrannyGoodFish will present a demonstration at the pottery wheel on June 22 at 11:00.  This will be a kid friendly demo so grab a shaved ice or cold drink and come see Granny spin up something fun at Funkytonk Farmer's Market. 

What’s fresh at the market this week?  The summer heat is is just what we need for some mouth-watering watermelons! Johnson's Backyard Garden Photo here. The summer at the farmer’s market is fresh and vibrant! Earthy harvested potatos in red, white and purple and Sweet & Hot peppers wake your senses and memories of the farm. The summer brings us the best of mother nature. When you eat in season and buy from the local farmer you are getting the best nature has to offer to keep you and yours healthy. Farmers work hard every day and all year round in rain, cold, heat and droughts to produce bustling crops of goodness to bring to you the best of the county to the heart of Austin.  Farm to Market Sampling booth is always opened to try the farmers’ market local and fresh goodies! Check it out!  Johnson’s Backyard Organic Garden will have an array of veggies including, Summer Squash, Yukon Potatoes, Eggplant, Tomatoes, Basil, Sweet & Hot Peppers, Cabbage, Carrots, and more!  Bikkirum Farm is bringing fresh zucchini, squash and green tomatoes! Gordon’s Natural Garden will have mixed lettuces, yellow squash, walking onions, green beans, corn and other spring veggies.  " Hill Country Texas Olive Oil"  has a new Jalapeno olive oil that is just amazing!!!!   

What’s on the menu at the NATY!   "Chill" off the heat at The Purple Tongue with a traditional Louisiana shaved ice! The Purple Tongue has a huge selection of flavors and be sure to ask about specials made from real fruit like Watermelon Basil.  And if you are hungry add a loaded all-natural, nitrate-free sausage or hot dog and chips to go with it. The menu has some veggie sausage options too!  

What people are saying about The Purple Tongue...Oh my, oh my!  You MUST order the strawberry banana shaved ice!  The young man working here recommended it, and he did not steer us wrong.  I can honestly say this was the best flavored snow cone I have ever had...ever!  It is not your ordinary shaved ice syrup.  It is made from the actual fresh fruit!  You can honestly taste the real banana and strawberries.  It was soooooooooo good!  This was the only flavor we tried, so I cannot vouch for the others, BUT you have got to try this one!!!! The young gentleman was very kind, helpful and professional.  I like the concept of this food truck.  Wishing the owners and staff the best!  Did I mention you HAVE TO try the banana strawberry shaved ice????!!!!!!

What’s cooking at Snarky's MOO BAWK OINK  well they have closed their business. Many will miss them at the yard. We are plannning to bring in new trailers over the next month so stay tune for upcoming news at the NATY!

JUST ONE MORE GREAT REASON TO VISIT "THE NATY" THIS SATURDAY! "A great urban experience in the Heart of Austin," the FunkyJunk Market will be open every Saturday starting May 18th from 9am to 3pm.  We will be featuring local vendors of antiques, vintage clothing, repurposed furniture, jewelry and arts & crafts by artisanal designers. The Flea will be in the adjacent parking lot of "The NATY", North Austin Trailer Yard, the hot spot for local food trailers and the farmers' market.
